ABSTRACT:
The concept of generalized strain measure has been useful for study of elastic plastic transitions. According to classical theory, the elastic-plastic transitions are linear in nature but this theory does not tell about non-linearity in elastic –plastic transitions. It was B.R Seth who explained the non-linear nature of transition state. The elastic-plastic transition problems are helpful to calculate stresses for initial yielding and for fully plastic state. The concept of elastic-plastic transition has been elaborated by discussing various elastic-plastic problems.
