ABSTRACT:
A study was made on welding of 4mm thick aluminum alloy 5083 plates using friction stir welding. The table of experiments was prepared based on abilities of universal milling machine. The experiments were conducted at different tool rotations speeds of 900r/min, 1120r/min, 1400r/min and 1800r/min. The welding speed is opted as 20mm/min. Examination was made with the cylindrical taper profile tool. Samples for microstructure analysis, Rockwell hardness measurements and tensile test samples were prepared. It is distinguished that the better mechanical properties were accomplished at moderate instrument rotational speed, and equi-hacked out grains got at strung profile device, grain size were gotten half of the base material.
