ABSTRACT:
Durability of the structures is a main concern now a days due to the various types of deteriorations caused by natural as well as manmade environmental conditions. In earlier days the strength was the only parameter which drew the attention of the engineers and researchers as far as the concrete is concerned. Later it was established that durability was also as important factor as that of the strength criterion. Durability of concrete may be generally defined as the capability of concrete to resist weathering action, chemical attack and abrasion without compromising its required engineering properties. For this study, concrete grade of M20 was used with 40 % of copper slag as partial replacement of sand in preparation of concrete. Durability properties such as Acid and Sulphate Resistivity were evaluated. Test results at 90 days shows that durability of the concrete found to be low resistant to HCL attack and higher resistance against H2SO4.
